Historic nature hike takes place Nov. 7

The Trumbull Historical Society, in partnership with the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center, will hold this year’s historic nature hike on Saturday, Nov. 7, meeting at the commuter parking lot on Park Street (Daniels Farm Exit for Route 25 South).

The hike begins at noon and explores the sites of Andrew Tait’s Paper mill, the remains of the Trumbull Pond Reservoir spillway and dam, and the Billboard Cliffs. Before returning, the hike crosses through what was the reservoir 75 years ago and has now become a complex ecosystem containing wet meadow grasslands, wetlands, and some areas of new-growth forest.

Hikers should dress appropriately and bring a snack and a bottle of water.

For more information, or to check on the hike status in the event of bad weather, call the Society at 203-377-6620.
