Blessed Lambs Fall Festival

Fall Festival

The Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, (junction of Huntington Turnpike/shelton Road) in Trumbull, will hold their annual church fair on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Quality tag sale with huge attic treasures booth, antiques, holiday shop, jewelry, toys, books, fall mums, bake sale, cookie walk, and much more. Homemade soup and sandwich lunch with their famous pie-a-la-mode. Come spend the day!

 

Blessing of the Animals

Trinity Episcopal Church, 1734 Huntington Tpke., will hold their St. Francis Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. outside near the memorial garden. Bring your animals — large and small.  All are invited. For more information, call 203-375-1503.

Long Hill United Methodist Church is holding their annual Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1:30-3 p.m., rain or shine. Pastor Dora, herself an animal activist, will offer prayers for all our pets. You are invited to bring your pets, no matter if it’s alive, a stuffed animal, or a picture of a living or family pet that has passed on. All will be blessed and prayed for. Hands Together pasta night fundraiser

A Pasta night fundraiser for Haiti’s Hands Together will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, from 6-9 p.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Parish’s McClinch Family Center, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Father Tom Hagan OSFS, who founded Hands Together in 1986 will be the featured speaker and will speak about the work that has been done in Port Au Prince, Haiti and specifically in Cite Soleil, which is known as the worst slum in the Western Hemisphere. HT provides 10,000 hot meals per day, 200,000 dry meals per week, has opened eight schools and provided irrigation systems and agricultural assistance for the poorest of the poor in Haiti. Father Hagan is regarded as “a legend among the Oblates” and the Christian Science Monitor referred to him as “the Priest who ventures where others no longer dare.

Catering is being done by Vazzy’s, reservations need to be made by Sept. 28 by calling 203-377-0297 or e-mailing [email protected] and the suggested donation is $15 per person.

 

Trumbull Interfaith Council Clergy/Laity Supper

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Trumbull Interfaith Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains Road, for the annual Clergy and Laity Supper. Jerry Owen of the host church may be contacted for information at 203-372-8844.

 

Church Women United of Greater Bridgeport meeting

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Church Women United of Greater Bridgeport will meet at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church, 877 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Plans will be finalized for World Community Day, Friday, Nov. 13 at 11:00 a.m., at Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Spaghetti supper and concert series

Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., will hold their spaghetti and meatball dinner with salad, bread, beverages and dessert for $12, (less for children and seniors), on Saturday, Oct. 17. The free concert will feature an evening of cool jazz from the Masters, the Movies and beyond with the Bob Kolb Jazz Quartet at 7 p.m. Call 203-954-9691 for information.

TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) Trumbull Chapter meetings are held every Tuesday, 10 a.m., at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 1734 Huntington Tpke., next door to Fairchild Nichols Memorial Library.
