Three Christian Heritage high school students will be interning at the Yale Child Study Center through Yale’s Summer Internship Program. The high school program, pioneered by Dr. Linda Mayes and Dr. Federico Vaca, will run for six weeks from June through July.

Incoming high school seniors Catherine Reid, Haddon Smith, and Valeria Sarmiento (all seniors), will participate in research, seminars, career clubs, and lectures. The program will culminate in a poster session in July where the interns will present their work.

The three students were selected based on their outstanding academic performance, teacher recommendations, and interviews. Last summer two other Christian Heritage students did similar internships with Yale and are now heading to college pre-med programs.

“Engaging students in robust and meaningful summer activities — whether it’s international community service trips, a summer job, or an internship — is very beneficial and something we endeavor to facilitate,” commented Dr. Brian Modarelli, head of school at Christian Heritage School.
