Trumbull sixth graders win basketball title

Trumbull defeated St. Mary’s of Ridgefield to win the Fairfield County basketball title. The Trumbull Travel 6th Grade girls basketball team won the Fairfield County Basketball League C Division championship on Sunday, March 8.

Trumbull defeated St. Mary’s of Ridgefield, 24-21, in the final, which was held at the Danbury Police Athletic League complex.

Trailing 21-18 in the fourth quarter, Trumbull scored the final six points of the contest to prevail.

Trumbull earned the championship game berth after previously defeating Shelton, 25-8, in the quarterfinals and Weston, 17-16, in the semifinals.

The FCBL organizes both league games and tournaments for 5th to 8th grade teams from basketball organizations in Fairfield County.
