Douglas Smith will discuss his career as a cartoonist on Tuesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Trumbull Library, 33 Quality Street.
Smith is an award-winning editorial cartoonist whose weekly cartoons appeared in The Trumbull Times as well as other newspapers. He will discuss his career with anecdotes, screen presentations, question and answers, and drawing for the audience.
Smith has been drawing professionally since 1984. He is a four-time recipient of the New England Newspaper & Press Association’s award for editorial cartooning as well as two awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists (CTSPJ). He was awarded first placed from the CTSPJ for his editorial cartoon in response to the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Smith also is a successful freelance advertising illustrator and the author of six Kindle Edition books available on Amazon.
