Warmer, wetter weather coming

After a relatively warm and sunny weekend — compared to one of the coldest weeks in years — more winter weather is headed to the region on Monday, Jan. 28, according to the National Weather Service. That winter weather, however, is expected to be followed by warmer, albeit wetter, days in the coming week.
Sunday night is expected to bring increasing clouds, a low around 16 and calmer winds than the nine to 11 mph winds of Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, snow is likely after 1 p.m., according to the weather service. That snow is expected to be followed by freezing rain and sleet between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., then rain, snow and sleet after 1 a.m.
Monday’s high is expected to be around 33. The calm wind is forecast to increase to five to nine mph in the morning. While the chance of precipitation is 80%, according to the weather service, little or no ice accumulation is expected and snow and sleet accumulation is not expected to be more than an inch.
Monday’s low is expected to be around 31. New sleet accumulation, according to the weather service, is expected to be less than a half inch.
On Tuesday, there is “a slight chance of rain or drizzle,” according to the weather service. Tuesday’s high is expected to be near 46. The chance of precipitation is 20%.
On Tuesday night, there could be more rain or drizzle, mainly after midnight. The low is expected to around 39. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
On Wednesday, there is another chance of showers and high near 53. Wednesday night could bring more showers and a low of 37.
Thursday could also see showers along with a little sun and a high of 43. Thursday night’s low is expected to be around 22.
Snow showers are possible on Friday, which could have a high near 30. Friday night’s low is expected to be around 18.
