Crack dealer beats up mall employee

Trumbull police arrested a crack dealer from Bridgeport at the Westfield Trumbull Mall last weekend.

Trumbull police arrested a crack dealer from Bridgeport at the Westfield Trumbull Mall last weekend.

A Bridgeport man was arrested for assault in the third degree, breach of peace in the first degree, possession of narcotics, and the illegal sale and distribution of hallucinogenic substances at the Westfield Trumbull Mall at 6:38 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.

Police said Jonathan Davila, 21, waited outside the mall where he assaulted another Bridgeport man who was leaving work at Charley’s Philly Steaks.

A report said that Davila struck the victim in the face, then punched him several times while he was on the ground before mall security broke up the conflict.

Davila ran from security and hid in a bush, police said, but when responding officers arrived they found him and arrested him.

According to the report, mall security saw Davila throw something out of his pocket as he ran away from the scene. Police found a large quantity of crack cocaine outside of the mall, which was tested positive and weighed seven grams.

Police said the crack was organized in four bundles and three bags, which indicated that Davila intended to distribute it.

He was held on a $2,500 bond, which he posted.

Davila is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 14.
