Cadets defeat Eagles

The St. Joseph High boys hockey team scored four times in the second period to build a 6-2 lead and then held off Trumbull High, 6-4, at The Rinks in Shelton on Wednesday night.
The Cadets are 7-4 and the Eagles are 2-9.
Mark Laoue gave St. Joseph a 1-0 lead off an assist from Sean Hurley at 7:47 of the first period and Christian Keator made it 2-0 at 13:46 with Colin Powell assisting.
Trumbull’s Sean Gallagher, assisted by Nate Walker, made it 2-1 22 seconds into the second stanza, but the Cadets scored the next three goals.
Vito Roca (4:35), Ryan Corcoran (7:16) and Hurley (9:44) tallied for a 5-1 Cadet lead.
Brendan McGill scored unassisted for Trumbull at 12:58 before Roca answered in kind 37 seconds later.
Walker made it 6-3 at the 4:13 mark of the third before Luke Bolton, from Alex Pierne) completed the scoring at 14:43.
Dom Sidorvzuk and Laoue had assists for St. Joseph.
The Cadets’ Marc Van Etten had six saves and Wade Conlan nine.
Matthew Paolino had 41 saves for Trumbull.
